Tokyo Afterhours
By Michael Anthony • Posted: March 3rd, 2008By evening, Tokio Ultra Lounge is a Hollywood hipster hangout, infusing the best of Japanese cuisine with the chillest of chill ambiance beats. By 2 am every other Saturday, however, it morphs into an all-out after-hours event. If you like dancing shirtless and rubbing up against everyone and anyone within a 10-foot radius, you’re going to love this haunt; here, the dance floor gets elbow-to-elbow packed within an hour of the door’s opening. Not exclusively gay and yet by no means hetero, the evening (or early morning, rather) is reminiscent of a circuit party with a touch of chic class. The crowd transcends the typical Euro-trash and party boy group typically found on the circuit; it’s an event where men from all walks of life, from professional-types letting loose to newbie college grads in search of an adventure. With some of the best beats and hottest boys this side of the WeHo party line, it’s a must try event…at least once. The only hard part is staying awake until the wee hours of the AM.
PLAIN AND SIMPLE:
SexyBack ~ 80% of the men that go to this club are circuit boy Adonis’s with the pecs, abs and bubble butts of a WeHo demi-god.
Self-Lovers ~ Of those 80% of hot men, 100% of them know how gorgeous they are, and they let you know it through each and every dance.
Music to my Ears ~ You’ve got to love house and circuit (and the very occasional remixed dance pop) music to love this club. Although the DJ rocks and rocks hard, you’ve got to love the way he rocks…and roll with the punches of long periods of trance beat-box melodies.
