Skewers

The Vibe:
Skewers is NYC-reminiscent sidewalk dining at its best on the Santa Monica Blvd strip. Outdoor tables make for a casual meal, while the romantically lit and red hue inspired interior sets the scene for an intimate evening. This is a definite “date night” spot where a table can usually and easily be snagged without a reservation. You won’t see LA elite or Hollywood shakers here, but you will see locals out for a quiet meal.
The Food:
Eclectic Middle Eastern enthused foods (meat skewers being their special, duh!) make for exotic and pleasantly pungent dishes. Small portions give great tapas sharing, while generous ala carte platters compliment the diner that is dining alone (which is not an irregular occurrence here). Meat eaters fare best here, as veggie dishes are not this spot’s specialties.
The Bottom Line:
If you need somewhere intimate yet not intimidating, Skewers is the place to be. Rarely filled to capacity, the small restaurant setting makes for a perfect location to be romantic or hold a talk-heavy business dinner. The overall ambiance does not conjure a particularly out-of-the-ordinary evening, but the skewers do make for a savory memory.
